Favorites : December 2016

15 January 2017
Hi guys, I know that my faves post is a tiny bit late, but rather late than never, right? Dec was crazy busy in the beginning and then when the holidays rolled in, it chilled a bit and we got to spend time with our families. These products were truly standouts for me and I will keep on loving them into this year.

Elizabeth Arden Skin Illumination Capsules

Magic in a capsule! It’s not an oil but also not a lotion or a cream. I think serum is a safe word to use to describe this magic that is happening, as it’s not oily or like a lotion. It smells amazing and it makes my skin feel soft and moisturised, no, nourished. It’s rich without over-complicating your skin. The next morning I always have a great makeup day.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

For a while this balm was discontinued in South Africa and I jumped to get back ups. Now I read somewhere that it is back in stock. Still need to check it out, but I am so happy for this news. This is the best cleansing balm SA brands have to offer. I have compared this cleanser to another similar cleansing balm here. It removes waterproof liner and mascara like it’s no fuss at all and it does not sting my eyes. I highly recommend this.

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Eye Color Shadow in Shimmering Copper

This is the perfect everyday color to throw on your lid and be done with it. It also pairs really well with the Essence liner. The shadow blends easily with minimal to zero fallout and it is super soft. The compact has got a nice size mirror for applying liner and mascara. If you are looking for a item to splurge yourself with this is it!

Red Door Aura

I am not good at describing scents, but this is such a good perfume that I will summon my best writing skills and tell you about this perfume. Everybody and their mom was wearing Red Door back in the day, even my lovely mother. Now this perfume definitely has got the Red Door undertone but much more modern and I feel lighter. I can not tell if it’s more floral or more fruity but I can tell you this much: it’s sophisticated yet light, perfect for day or night.

Essence 2 in 1 Eyeshadow & Liner

This is a wonderful eyeshadow base. I have done a review on this liner / shadow here and I have explained how I apply and use this product here. When I wear the Essence 2 in 1 liner & eyeshadow all by it’s own, this product does not work for my oily lids, but when set with a powder (usually a pretty bronzy color), it works perfect. I find that using this and an eyeshadow makes life in the mornings easier and quick and its great for an “office look”

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara

This mascara came in my Red Square tester box. I love this mascara!!! I find it effortlessly adding definition to my lashes. This was the ONLY mascara I used in the month of December, yup, even on Christmas. It stays put all day, does not flake but removes easily at the end of the day. I can not wait to try the rest of the mascaras in the tester box.

What was your favorites for the month of December or did you do a best of 2016 post. Let me know in the comments below.

Love ya

  1. Is this the smashed Elizabeth Arden shadow ? It's sooo gorgeous ! Those Essence pencils are magical , I swipe some on my lid and I'm out the door and it lasts forever on me. I seriously want to splurge on the Clinique Take the day off – but le sigh – school clothes shopping made me broke so I'll have to wait until payday lol.

  2. It sure is, but here it was still alive and well. I love my essence pencils, it's also great for gifting to my friends. The Clinique balm is worth every cent. I will start a petition if they take it away again. LOL

  3. Your Elizabeth Arden eyeshadow is beautiful! You should post some swatches 🙂 Also I love Clinique skin care, but I don't see many people talking about it in the blogging world which is sad – I'll need too try out their cleansing balm! Xx

  4. Thank you so much, unfortunately it fell after doing this post 🙁 I'm still crying a bit. You are right, not a lot of people talk about Clinique. They have great skincare.
