Tara & Jack – Le Masque Review

23 August 2017

Hi guys, it is hump-day again and downhill all the way from here to the weekend. If you are having a super busy week just like me, then this post is meant for you. We all have that one thing we do to unwind & relax and this is one of my favorites – masking. Not only is it luxurious and peaceful, but its also beneficial for your skin. Today I am going to do a Tara & Jack – Le Masque Review.

Before we get to the review of the masks, we first have to talk about the online store where I purchased them. I got these from The Beautiful Store, and I HIGHLY recommend you go and check them out. As I am writing this post, I just placed an order and I got 10% off (click here to see how). Not only do they offer the most amazing loyalty program, but they also have free shipping throughout South Africa. How they do that – I do not know. Their client service is excellent with a personal touch and the best I have ever experienced. They recently had a special and I was able to pick up most of the masks in the range.

Tara & Jack – Le Masque Review

Packaging

These masks come in a little sleeve “file”. On the top it has a little stamp to indicate what skin condition it is recommended you use it for. Each mask has got a different color sleeve and thus easy to recognize. When you turn the sleeve over, the mask and its result is explained. There is also an ingredients deck and directions. Upon purchasing these masks you will get a “shaker”, do not let the Tupperware cupboard swallow it, you will need it! When you open the “sleeve file” your mask will be on the inside (obviously) in a silver foil packet. Easy, no fuss packaging.

Formula

Each mask has got its own properties that will influence the formula of the mask. The one is a sheet mask, the other is a “putty” mask, there is also a gel mask. They all have different ingredients and different textures to accomplish their different goals. Each mask packet comes with its own set of instructions on how to create the mixture – stick to those instructions!

For the gel mask I have used a flat foundation brush to apply and it worked like a bomb. The putty mask I tried that as well, but ended up using my fingers instead. The sheet mask fits the face perfectly and is easy to apply. They all smell amazing and refreshing which adds to the luxurious pampering feeling.

Some of these masks can be used multiple times and other is a one-use only. The green mask turned out to be a gel that left my skin smooth and plump. I could also store the mask in the fridge for up to 10 days. Whereas the putty mask literally sets within 5 mins. I am keen on testing out the last 3, but I am sure they are as luxurious as the first 3 I tested.

Range

As from the picture below you will see that there are 6 face masks in this range and then a 7th which is the eye contour mask. Like I have mentioned before, each mask targets a different skin condition and they all leave your skin feeling healthy and looking amazing. Please visit The Beautiful Storeย for more product information on these masks.

Performance

My favorite so far has to be the green gel mask. It has apple stem cells and left my skin feeling so soft and smooth. I even got to share this one with my friends as I could not finish the mask within the 10 days its recommended you keep it for. The putty mask is another story. I did not adhere to the instructions and lost a full mask. It sets within 5 mins to a rubber consistency. Unfortunately I could not use it, but did have a back up one on hand.

I find these masks to be a huge spoil and they have become a part of my skincare regime. Also, I think that these will be great as a gift to a friend of a family member. I recommend the green or the gold one if you want to play it safe (and not gift them one to fight their acne, it might send the wrong message – I doubt it will say happy birthday friend)

Pricing

You can find these online at The Beautiful Store @ R130 each. I find them a tiny bit steep (if I have to be 100% honest, but I can justify that. If you consider for one moment, that you get R50 when you sign up for the loyalty program and you get free shipping, you have already saved enough to get one mask. The gel mask you can use more than once and the quality is outstanding. More savings!

My gripe is with the one use only masks. But then again, they deliver so good on their promise that I find its worth it. Keep an eye out on their social media for any more “buy one, get one free” deals and snag as many as you can. I would much rather pay more for these masks and get good quality, rather than drugstore masks and get less than average results.

These are my thoughts on the Tara & Jack – Le Masque Review. Please leave a comment below if you have any questions and I will try and answer them. Also let me know if you tried these before and what you thought of them.

love ya

Addendum to the post.

Simone from An Ordinary Gal showed me the errors off my ways and the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Since the price point is the only slight drawback for me, she pointed out that the contents can be divided for multiple uses. (lightbulb moment) I never thought of splitting the powder. When doing that you literally cut the cost (per use) into half, or even thirds. That would mean luxury spa face masks at drugstore prices.

Then when you throw in an awesome loyalty program, free shipping throughout South Africa and awesome customer service you can not go wrong when Sopping at The Beautiful Shop!!

  1. Thank you so much for this post Melanie! We are glad you love our Masks too. We hear you about the pricing – however, there are 2 reasons for this. Firstly, they are created in France (need we say more about our sad Rand?!) even though the packaging and everything else is local and secondly, they are professional-spa level so can be considered to be as effective as a spa visit (for a face treatment) which makes them very cost-effective. Perfect for when you can’t make the spa or want a spa-level treatment on a monthly basis.

They are a brand new brand too and we are hoping that as their popularity increases, the price will decrease. We also have regular specials (“buy any amount get the same amount free”) which doesn’t mean we could normally halve the price but is rather our way of getting them into everyone’s hands and increasing awareness.

Thank you again – we are so proud to be featured on your blog!

    1. Absolutely love your online store and you deliver the most amazing client service.
I see where you are coming from and I respect all your hard work.
      Keep it up ????

    1. We’re having a special at the moment where you can buy any amount and get the same amount free, if you’re interested! And we deliver for free ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Melanie just to help you with the ‘putty mask’, I only made half of the mixture and kept the other half. Okay so Adam threw out the other half, but the plan was to use it at least in 2 batches. Actually I think you can throw out a third of it, cause with half I shared it with my sil. The acne one? I think that’s the one I’m talking about. We can do same with the gel masks. Hope that helps ๐Ÿ™‚

    Awesome review!

    1. Thank you so much for showing me the error of my ways friend. do not no why I have not thought about it before. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense and the more I wonder why I did not thought of it myself.
