Are you looking to zhuzh up your everyday look, or are you looking for something fancy for that evening glam look? Almay has the answer to your prayers. They have recently launched their Velvet Cream shadows. And boy did they deliver! With my oily lids you know I simply had to do an Almay Velvet Foil Cream Shadow Review and a wear test.
I first saw these over on Candice’s blog – In My Bag and after reading her review I knew I needed some of these shadows in my life. The fact that they last all day and the shimmer, it all steamed my name. I had my eyes set on 08 Out of the woods, but it seemed like a particular popular shade. In the end one colour became two, and if I didn’t stop my self I would have walked out of Dischem with them ALL! There are 12 shades in the range, some more neutral and others more bold. I still have my eyes set on one or two more colours (a rose gold and then a deep plum) and after testing these I will most definitely go and pick them up.
Almay Velvet Foil Cream Shadow Review
The colours are rich in pigment and they are easy to apply, whether its with a brush or your finger. I have found that they go on more pigmented with your finger, but a tiny brush does help on the inner corner. Setting does take a minute or so, but when they dry down they do not move for no-one or nothing. These shadows are made to last the whole day and then some. I easily get 12 to 14 good looking hours out of them before they start to power down. When I say power down, I just mean they start to fade.
The Formula is a lightweight but highly pigmented. After this shadow has set on your eyes, it feels like there is nothing there at all. But when you look in the mirror you have the most stunning looking eyes! 👀 You will need some powerful makeup remover at the end of the day to get rid of the these shadows, as they are hardcore! But there is nothing a little bit of cleansing balm and a good face massage cannot fix! I commend Almay for the staying power of these shadows. It truly is next level.
You can grab this range from Dischem, Clicks or Takealot at around R110 each. They contain just over 10ml of product and believe you me, this will last you forever. A tiny bit of product goes a loooooong way.
Let all of us with oily lids say thanks to the makeup gurus as this is a must have in all of our vanities whether you want an easy day time look or a glamorous date-night look.
