As some mommies are busy buying Crayola crayons for back to school I thought it “cute” to review the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Crayon Lip Colours. Besides mommies also need “special crayons” right? Lets chat about this review : Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Crayon.
Maybelline is well known for making stunning mascaras. It does not matter what your need is- volumising, lengthening or even wispy, Maybelline has the mascara to achieve the look. They also do quite a good job with lipsticks and these crayons are no exception. I have had them in my collection for quite a while now. They have already started circling their way to that “back of the closet” area that is reserved for “old things”.
Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Crayon
If you are like me then we are creatures of habit. I always buy either a pink or red lipstick. Rarely I will venture out and buy something completely different. Lo and behold I am reviewing a pink and red lipstick. Never the less, let me tell you my thoughts on the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Crayon.
Lately these chubby pencils have taken over almost every brand and with good reason. They are easy to just throw in your bag or to store in makeup storage, they take up almost no space. The cap clips on securely which ensure there is no “handbag chaos” happening. It unfortunately is not “tiny-makeup-artist-proof” 😁 but then again what is? Like most of these type of pencils, they are twist ups and at the end is a sharpener that clip out.
The formula is definitely matte, but it is a comfortable matte. Like most matte lipsticks these do not make your lips look like dried out prunes. Applying the lipstick you would not think its matte because it is soft and creamy. However after a few minutes it does settle completely matte. It glides on like a dream and is pigmented from the get go. Patchiness is not problem here initially.
Maybelline claims that this lipstick will last up to 8 hours and is fade free. These are big claims – Very Big Claims! I feel that it does not hold up 100% but gets close. I have found the best way to apply this lipstick is to add a second layers about 30 minutes after you first applied it. This way it lasts longer a good 5 to 6 hours. No let’s tackle the fading. This lipstick is definitely not 100% transfer proof and it faded on the inside of my lip. Overall I think it lasts well and wear comfortable.
There are 14 shades in the range. There is something for everyone. Some muted pinks and some bright inks. All sorts of reds from bright to bold, all the way through to vampy which is perfect for winter. Finding a colour that will suite you is easy enough. Something I picked up on is that all of the shades have beautiful en empowering names. The likes of “Hussle in heels”, “Stay Exceptional” and “Own your Empire”.
Where to find these
Luckily Maybelline is easy accessible from most department stores. Clicks, Dis-Chem, Foschini and the likes of these stores. They are also available online from Takealot & Superbalist. Your biggest problem will be where to find the best deal, 3 for 2 at Clicks of Dis-Chem or crazy % discounts online.
You will pay between R120 and R140 for one of these Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Crayons depending on where you shop.
Is it worth is?
100%! I am always looking for a lipstick that will last a good amount of time without drying my lips. This lipstick might not be perfect, but its a very close one. You will most definitely find a shade you’ll like which will last a good while that’s really comfy on the lips. I might be planning on picking up another colour or two.
